Manchester Coach wants flying eagles job

Nigeria born FC United club of Manchester, Chukwuma Akuneto has declared his intention to handle the Nigeria U-20 National team, flying eagle.
The highly experienced Coach when it come to nurturing youngster to stardom said it is high time he come home and used his wealth of experience bailed out falling standard of Nigeria football.
The ex-Head Coach of U-19 team of Mohammedan Sporting Club of Kolkata, India said he has all the qualification needed and urge NFF to give him the chance to contribute his own quota to the growth of football in Nigeria and help secure the future of the players and Super eagles.
He said “I have been a Football Coach for over 8 years, working with youths not more than 19, and I am also an accomplished scout for top teams in England which include Blackburn Rovers and Europe because of my ability to identify talents. I am good at developing and bringing young football players through the basis to become professional players that is why I have been in youth system all this while. I have also built many successful football teams by delivering quality football sessions which makes it possible for me to get the very best out of my players and win Football matches. Other nations have benefitted from my knowledge and I am sure it is time and bring that to bear on my nation. I am calling NFF to consider my application to become the next U-20 Coach and they won’t be disappointed. I have all the experience and qualification which are as follows: I have Level 4 Certificate in Coaching Football Preparatory Certificate (UEFA A Prep Coaching Award), Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football (UEFA B Coaching Award) and FA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football. I will do the job to my best ability.”
Akuneto who was a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from University of Lagos is currently the Head Coach of FC United club of Manchester Youth team (under 18) and Head Football Coach/Sports tutor at The Manchester College, England.
He previously handled Mohammedan Sporting club of Kolkata, India, New Radiant Sportive of Maldives
He played for the following clubs in Nigeria and abroad between 1989 and 1997. Stationery stores of Lagos, VIP FC of Lagos, ACB FC of Lagos Concord of Abeokuta, Udoji United of Akwa and Rangers International FC of Enugu. He also had stints with Mohun Bagan Athletic club of India, Negombo youth FC of Sri Lanka, Song Lham FC of Vietnam and DPMM of Brunei before calling it a day due to a recurring knee injury he sustained in 1995 playing for Enugu Rangers .
He has the following honours as a Coach,
Won Manchester schools sports cup, Football Youth conference League runners up Manchester College, Greater Manchester County schools cup winners all for Manchester College in 2010. In same year, I won Manchester FA County Cup with FC United. In2009, I was winner of Manchester schools cup, British colleges Elite cup, British colleges Futsal cup all with Manchester College. I won Football Youth Conference League Champions with Manchester College in 2008. In 2004, I won Federation cup (FA CUP) in India with Mohun Bagan.

Ukah return to action

Super eagles defender, Ugochukwu Ukah who was injured about a week ago while preparing to take center stage in his team league game away to Wisla Krakow is back ahead of time.
The Ex-AC Parma of Italy defence trojan suffered an inflammation on his achilles and was to be out of action for two weeks but he return after just a week to featured in the last weekend game against Gornik Zabrze.
He spoke exclusively on phone with naijaboysabroad from his base that he is back in action and played the last game as he expect to be in action in next match.
He said “I am back earlier than expected, it was a a good thing for me and my team. I returned to training last week Thursday and Doctor said I am good to play the game. I manage to play the last match against Gornik Zabrze which we won 2-0.”
He is looking forward to his second cap for Eagles.

Okoye’s Ar-Hima reaches last 4 of Meghalaya Tourney

The dream of Kelechi Okoye to retain the All India Meghalaya Football Invitation Tournament he won with Shilong Lajong last term is getting close to reality as he motivated his team, Ar-Hima to beat Nigeria eleven 1-0 to book their place in the semi final.
Babatunde Badmus scored in the 82nd minute of the match for Ar-Hima to beat Nigeria eleven1-0.
Babatunde had scored six goals in his team’s victory against Green Valley, Assam in the pre-quarterfinal.
The Ex-JUTH player said he is happy with his team’s performance and his contribution.
He said “I am very happy that we won, Nigeria eleven was a strong side but with our determination, we broke the deadlocks and that was it, I am happy that I was involved in the victory again, I am looking forward to a great game in the semi final.”

Sudan offer Dream team rejects, Francis Nations Cup chance

Ahli Shaandi FC of Khartoum striker, Ikechuckwu Francis has been given Sudanese citizenship to enable him star for the North Africa team in the next year African Cup of Nations.

The potent striker who was surprisingly dropped by Austin Eguavoen led Dream team V technical crew from the team that perform poorly at the CAF U-23 Championship which served as 2012 London Olympic games qualifier, has received commendations from Sudan national team coach and FA and deem him fit to represent the nation at the January Cup of Nations..

Francis on phone from Khartuoum said his effort and ability has not gone unnoticed by Sudan National team Coach and the Football federation of the country who offered him the country’s citizenship which make him eligible to play for the National team at 2012 African Cup of Nations.

He said “I was happy with this development because my team mates here in Sudan were surprised that I was dropped from the U-23 team, and they even wondered more when they watch the tea play, this made me worried and told them the coaches must have not seeing what he like in him, but said the recent development in Sudan show the world and Nigerians that he is a top class striker. It is dream of every Africa player is to play for National team, play at nations cup even world cup, this is the chance Sudan has given me and my team mate, Seun Isaac Malik, our citizenship is ready to play at next year’s nations cup.”

The Ex-Khartoum Talata forward helped his team, Ahli Shaadi secured a CAF Confederations Cup ticket with his goals after returning from U-23 team camp where he scored three goals in four games.

Ukah out for two weeks

Super eagles defender, Ugochukwu Ukah will be missing in action for his Polish team, Widzew Lodz for two weeks.
Ukah who debut against Zambia under eagles new boss, Stephen Keshi cup the injury while he was getting set for his team’s last weekend’s league game at Wisla Krakow.
Ukah spoke with Soccerstar online from his based exclusively about his injury.
The Ex-AC Parma of Italy layer said “It was unfortunate, I was looking forward to play against Wisla Krakow, infact I was in for the game until the pain started before the game, so I have to miss it, I'm injured right now and i will be out of action for at least 2 weeks, say Wizdew Doctors. I have an inflammation on my achilles and I'm under treatment. I will miss the next game against Gornik zabrze this weekend. I hope to be back better.”

Okoye start trophy defence on winning note

Former Heartland and JUTH FC winger, Kelechi Okoye begin the defence of Meghalaya tournament in far away India with a massive victory Tuesday.
Okoye though did not score but was at the center of the show providing fivew assists out of the 9 goals scored by his club.
The former Junior international’s club, Ar-Hima FC of Shillong whalloped Green valley of Guwahati 9-0.
He said “I am happy that we started on a winning not, it was an emphatic one to tell everyone that we are ready to win, I am a defending champion with Shillong Lajong, so I want to win it with Ar-Hima, there is no other way to start that a 9-0 victory.”

No Xmas break for Dayo, Bala

There won't be chrismas break for Nigeria duo of Dayo Adeyoriju aka Aranka and Joseph bala who ply their trade in Oman with Oman Club.
There league will be resume on December 28th which mean any player that find his way out of the city must return on 25th for training.
Speaking with naijaboysabroad, the duo said they have no choice but will love to be in Nigeria for the festive period.
"We have no choice if our club said no break, as the fixture is now, it means there is no break but we will see if they can give us special consideration so as to come celebrate with our family and friends back home."Bala and Dayo said.

Utaka score goal number 9 in Denmark

Super eagles striker, Peter Utaka has rediscovered his goal scoring powers in Denmark after he scored Odense's second goal in the 4-0 away win over SounderjyskE in 36th minute of the encounter on Monday night.

The powerfully built striker muzzled past the opponent defender to score a beautiful goal.

With that strike, the younger Utaka now have 9 goals for his Danish super league side, Odense in the league and hope to get more.

He said in an electronic chat from his base.

"I am happy that I have rediscover my scoring form, I am happy that we will as well, it was an important win for us because it lifted us a bit. It is good for me as I am close to the top scorer who have 13 goals. I hope my goals will help lift my team to better position in the league and Europa league."

Odense now occupy 8th position in 12 team league.

Uche hit goal number 7 in Switzerland


Super eagles forward, Kalu Uche has netted his 7th goal of the season for his team, Neuchatel Xamas. The older of the Uche brothers struck his team’s third goal in 3-1 away win at Lausanne Sports in 82nd minute of the encounter.
Uche moved from relegated Spanish side, Almeria to the Swiss team that has Brown Ideye on his card before.
The victory now took Xamaz to 5th on the log.

Injury stop Abwo

Hope of Former Junior International Solomon David Abwo to end his goal drought this weekend has been dash has he is injured.
He will now miss the match against Legia warsaw.
Abwo told naijaboyabroad from his base that he is having a muscle pain and will not feature in the match.
He said "I have pain in my tight muscle and I will not play this weekend, I would have love to play and score against team tough as Legia, but I can't help it. I hope to return soon.
He sustain the injury two weeks back and was suppose to play this match before he got injured again.
He is expected to return to action in two weeks time.

Ukah eyes victory at krakol, as Abwo set to end goal drought

Super eagles defender, Ugochukwu Ukah is eyeing another good performance with his team, Widzew Lodz in the Poland Ekstraklasa league this weekend when it clash with Wisla Krakow in city of Krakow.
The former Queens park rangers of England defender said he hope to extend his good run with his team when they play the Europa league campaigner.
He said the game won’t be easy after watching the opponent beaten Fulham by a lone goal in the Europa game Thursday but said they are ready for the match.
He said “It is going to be a tough and interesting game against Wisla, they are one of the big team in Poland and we are aware of that, I want to keep my good performance for the team on, my mates too are ready for them, Wisla would have gain more confidence after beaten Fulham in Europa league game, but we are equal to the task.We are going for the maximum three points as we did last weekend.”
Wisla Krakow is placed 5th, while Widzew Lodz is 8th on the log.
Meanwhile, former Nigeria Junior international, Solomon David Abwo has stated that he will be seeking to score goal for his team after experiencing goal drought for several weeks.
Abwo will lead the attack of his team, Zaglebie Lubin when the host 2nd placed, Legia warsaw.
He said “I will do my best to see that my team won the match, it won’t be easy. I am looking forward to return to scoring ways. I am sure my goals will start coming from this game.”

MAKINWA TO QUIT LAZIO


Former Super eagles striker, Stephen Ayoidele Makinwa will look elsewhere to play by the time next transfer window open.
Makinwa who is on the payrol of Italian giant, Lazio has been on the pecking order ion the club and has been declared suplus to requirement since last season.
Makinwa who rejected mmove to a lowly rated division side, Pergocrema last summer may find himslef back in that club if feelers from his agent, Paolo Fabbri in anything to go by.
Fabbri said he will do his best to see that Makinwa return to action an that is the only way to move his career back to the top.
He said ''We will do everything possible to find a club for Makinwa. Stephen needs to play and this time, we do not want to find ourselves in the same situation as in last summer when he did not sign for Pergocrema. OBIORA APOLOGISES TO NIGERIANS AND CAF FOR UNSPORTMANLIKE BEHAVIOUR


Dream team V captain Obiora Nwankwo has apologized to Nigerians and the team for his unsportsmanlike behaviour after the Olympic Eagles defeat in the hands of Senegal.
AC Parma midfielder tendered the apology during the teams evening training session inside the Stade de Marrakech on Thursday.
“I want to apologise to Nigerians, the Confederation of Africa Football, CAF and you my team mates for my attitude after the game. I feel very bad and I have been sad since that game. I was angry at the way we lost. I really am sorry.” A sober Obiora stated.

Number 10 as Okoye is fondly called won the trophy last season with his former club, Shilong Lajong beaten Nigeria eleven.

Francis Ike power team to Confederation cup


Dream team V invitee, Francis Ikechukwu was an hero far away in Sudan when he scored the goal that gave his team, Ahli Shandi FC of Khartoum ticket to compete in next years CAF Confederations cup.
The lanky striker who was in Ibadan and Ghana camp of Dream team V ahead of the on going CAF U-23 tournament in Morocco where he scored three goals in four friendlies but was dropped at last minute score his team winner against Hilal Kadoungi to earn them fourth placed finish on the log.
The elated Francis said he is happy that after putting the Dream team V drop behind him he was able to return to scoring ways for his team in Sudan and help them secure a continental ticket.
He said "I was sad that I could not make the team to Morocco, I taught I did my best to be in the team but the coaches felt otherwise, no bad feeling towards the crew, but I am happy that I did not allow the disappointment to affect me and return to goal scoring ways for my team, which eventually made it possible for us to finish fourth and qualify to play in next years confederation cup."
He however wish the dream team V victory in the last game.
He said "I was sad to watch my mates losing, it is not good, I am urging them to raise their game and put in more effort to see that they beat Algeria and pray that Morocco beat Senegal. All hope is not lost."
He scored 7 goals in the just concluded season for his team.

I will do my best to help my team do well in the competition, I will contribute my quota to see that we do well. I am very sad and feel like a loser not to be in Morocco with all my effort to see that I am released by my club, but God knows best, my body is in Romania but my heart is in Morocco with the team and I pray they make it.”

Rangers bank on Aluko

Glasgow Rangers are hoping that their new signing, Nigeria winger, Omotsone Aluko will be a big boost for the team in the current campaign.
This was revealed by the team’s assistant Coach, Kenny McDowall who believes that that new signing will be a big player for Rangers following his debut at Rugby Park last weekend against Kilmarnock.
The former Nigeria junior International, who has been out of action since summer when his contract with Aberdeen expire did enough to impressed the club's assistant manager with his skilful wing play.
Aluko who spotted jersey number 19 showed flashes of the creative qualities he has in his locker.
The assistant Coach said "I think Sone did very well in the game. He was unlucky not to score on two occasions, one is cleared off the line and the other comes off the post. So we were pleased with him and he is just a bit unfortunate that for their goal he got caught as the last man. That can happen to anyone but in overall performance, we were delighted with his performance."
Aluko also denied that he and his parents had come up with a lump sum of £50,000 to stop Aberdeen blocking the deal earlier this week, but then declared that the move had only gone through because he had taken a financial hit.

Omagbemi looking beyond Honka

Former Nigeria U-23 International, Dudu Omagbemi has expressed his desire to play elsewhere next term.
The FC Honka of Finland goal poacher who was injured for better part of last term said he is happy with his performance last season and said he does not know where he will play next term due to the state of finance at his present team.
The Ex-Debreceni forward said “I can’t rate myself so much due to injury that affected me for better part of the season, but I was still able to score goals that make me the club second Highest Goal scorer despite playing few games. I was able to score 9 goals in 17 matches.
In the state of injury now, Omagbemi said he has returned to full training with Honka after he suffered internal mucsle pain.
He said “I am fine now, I resume training on Monaday and I feel no pain now, I am still training with my team but can’t say whether I will play for them next season because they have a financial problem, they are not owing me but things are not well here in term of money, I don’t know how tomorrow will be offer will be welcome.”
He however disclosed that his former team, Debreceni and his ex-agent owe him money.

Anderlecht target Ukah

The days of Super eagles central defender, Ugochukwu Ukah at Polish team, Widzew Lodz are numbered as he is on the radar of Belgium Giant, Anderlecht whose official besiege the venue of a league match to get firsthand look on the Ex-Parma of Italy defender.
The former Queens Park Rangers of England player, whose profile has been on the rise since his debut or eagles as he was named man of the match in his club, Widzew Lodz of Poland 1-0 away win at Lech Poznan yesterday in Poland Ekstraklasa game.
Ukah who was the best player on the pitch for his team in a league match last weekend was at his best again for his Polish team this weekend and Anderlecht officials were on hand to watch towering defender whom they have shown interest in acquiring his service.
Speaking after the match on phone from his base, Ukah express his happiness for his career progress and hope he moved to higher league soon.
He said “I am happy with my performance and the progress I am making in my career. I did very well against Lech and was named the best on the pitch. It is encouraging, this is the second time in a row I am getting that recognition. I was given the responsibility to see that the top striker in the league with 16 goals, Rodnevs was put at bay which I was able to do successfully, infact Rodnevs acknowledge that at the end of the game. I was told that Anderlecht officials were around to watch me and they were impressed with what they saw. Let us see how it goes, I will keep doing well here to get better deal to bigger league, that has always be my dream.”
The Italian born Nigeria defender debut against Zambia in a friendly in Kaduna few.

Ukah eyes more eagles caps, emerge best player in Poland

Super eagles defender, Ugochukwu Ukah who debut for Nigeria in the friendly match against Zambia in kaduna has express his desire to play more games for Nigeria under Coach Stephen Keshi.
Ukah who was first call up by erstwhile coach, Samson Siasia for the friendly against Ghana in London came in as a second half substitute and describe that moment as fantastic in his career and said he want more.
The Widzew Lodz towering defender said “I am very happy that my dream of playing for Nigeria finally come through, I want it to continue, I will keep working hard and doing well for my team so as to earn more call up for my country. I know I am on course for more experience with eagles because the coach applauded me after the game and said I did well, that was a great word of encouragement, I must tell you Coach Keshi and Yobo are great leaders, I enjoyed working under the coach and crave for more, Yobo is a great guy that give mates confidence and self believe.”
On how is has been faring since return to his team after national duty, Ugo said “It was great, it gave me more confidence when I returned and I was named the man of the match in our match weekend.”

Worgu, Osunwa rule Sudan

Nigeria duo of Stephen Worgu and Kelechi Osunwa have emerged the champions of Sudanesse Super league for this season.
Kelchi Osunwa, 27 who is the strike partner to his compatriot, Worgu netted 7 goals while the U-23 striker, Stephen Worgu netted twice in the campaign.
The due became champions with El Merrech which emerge league winner with 72 points.
Another Nigerian, Francis Ikechukwu who have scored 4 goals for his team, Ahli Shandi FC of Khartoum will battle for a CAF Confederation ticket as his team currently placed fourth and can over take the third placed team by the time the last two games are played.
Francis Ikechukwu was part of Dream team V that camped in Ghana ahead of CAF U-23 championship in Morocco but surprisingly dropped form the team after netting three times in four friendlies.

YAK CLOSE TO 100 EPL GOAL

Blackburn Rovers and Nigeria International, Yakubu Abdulrazaq Aiyegbeni is the on the verge of setting a record as first Nigeria player to score 100 goals in the English Premier League.
Yakubu whose scoring ability is not in doubt since he debut in England for Portsmouth in 2003 have netted 102 goals in England for Premiership and championship while he has scored 91 goals in the EP so far.
Yak as he is fondly called scored 7 goals for Pompey in his first season in 2003, while he scored 29 goals for same team in the following season.
The Ex-Maccabi Haifa of Israel player scored 25 goals for Middlesborough between 2005 and 2007, he scored same number of goals for Everton in the EPL between 2007 and 2011. The Former Julius Berger of Lagos hitman netted 11 times for Leicester city in Championship last season and has scored 5 goals for Blackburn in the on going season.

Ogu join Leira, eyes Champioins league slot

Unknown Nigeria player, Ogu John Ugochukwu has sealed a deal with Portuguese side,Union Leira.
Ogu signed three years deal last week with the team after the officials were impressive about his output.
John was happy and looking forward to doing great things with the club.
He said "I feel very great that I signed the deal after I have been out due to injury for long, it is time to settle down to business and looking forward to achieve with my club. I am looking forward to winning league title and qualify for Champions league or Europa league while I am here. I am working hard to achieve that."

Orelesi tasks Dream team V on Olympic ticket

Dream team V defender who will be missing the Morocco party due to the inability of NFF to secure his release form his club, Nurudeen Orelesi has call on his teammates that will flying the flag of Nigeria at CAF U-23 tournament in Morocco to do everything withing their reach to secure Olympic ticket for Nigerians.
The FC Skenderbeu left back said he is sad with the development and that there is little or nothing he can do since the club insisted it was not in the FIFA calender.
He said :It was a sad situation for me because I was looking forward to winning the tourney with Nigeria, but my club stopped me because they said the competiion does not fall within the FIFA calender so I am needed in our quest to win the league, we are sixth and my club said they can't afford to allow me go. I am urging my colleagues who will be representing us in Morocco to put in their best and secure one of the ticket to play in London 2012 Olympics. I am wishing the team best of luck and injury free."

Bala eyes National team return

Former Nigeria Youth International, Joseph Bala has declared his intention to return to National team fold after enjoying his reign with flying eagles in 2007.
Bala, who is now playing for Oman Club said he did well with flying eagles and now expect to get a look in by U-23 team coach for the 2012 London Olympic football event.
He said "I am happy that I am doing well with Oman Club, I came here from Papa Lombard, Hungary on loan and I have settled well here, I scored on my debut and I am looking forward to score many goals. I enjoy my time playing for Nigeria U-20 team and I am looking forward to a return to National team. I will be glad if I get a call to play for Dream team in 2012 Olympics."

Oduamadi sad for missing CAF U-23 Championship

Super eagles and dream team attacking midfielder, Nnamdi Oduamadi has express is sadness for not making it to Morocco 2011, CAF U-23 Championship which serve as the 2012 Olympic football event qualifier.
The Torino player who was looking forward to the tournament before his team officials stopped him form honouring the call expended to him by Coach Austin Eguavoen said he was ready for the event before he was stopped, he tasks his team mates to put in their best and see that they make Nigerians laugh by securing the ticket for the Olympics.
He also said he will keep praying for the team.
He said “I am not happy that I could not make the team to Morocco, I was seriously looking forward to it but because the event fallout of FIFA Calendar and my team felt my absence in the team here in Torino will not be good for them as we are leading the table and in race for Serie A ticket, they stopped me. There is nothing I can do, I am urging my mates that will be in Morocco to put in their best and secure the ticket for Nigerians. I will keep praying for them. I hope to be part of the team to the Olympics next year.”

Obiefule: Work permit responsible for Malta return

Nigeria born striker, Polycarp Obinna Obiefule has disclosed that he left Norway to return to Malta to play for Marsaxlokk FC due to his inability to secure work permit.
He is also full of optimism that he will get a look in by Super eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi at the destined and appropriate time.

He said “I could not play for the team I signed for in Norway because I was not issued work permit, I have to be active so I returned to Malta to sign a year deal with Marsaxlokk. I will return there next summer.”

The player who score goal with ease in the Maltese Premier league said he felt bad that he has never been called by National teams’ selectors despite doing well at his club.
He said “As a human being I am not happy that I have not been recognized by any National team Coach at any level despite doing well for my clubs. I am sure I will play for eagles at appropriate time, everything in life is about time and I am waiting for my time to come, I am hoping that Coach Stephen Keshi will give me the needed debut in eagles.”
He commend the eagles new spirit under Coach Stephen Keshi and believe the team still have a lot of time to be a great team by paying more games.
“The team has done well in the first two games under Keshi, but they can get better. It is a matter of time before the team becomes the best it used to be, they need more friendly games and time to understand themselves.” Obiefule said.

Obiefule, 23 who play for Marsaxlokk FC of Malta has scored 10 goals in 11games in the on going season and has a Nigerian defender, Sunday Eboh as his team mate.
